WHY CHIANINA?
TOLERANCE AND SUITABILITY
Chianina's long legs means they have a greater ability to walk further and longer for both food and water making them ideal for hotter and drier climates.
Their white coat means they can tolerate the sun much better than darker cattle, but they actually have black skin meaning any instances of skin cancer etc, are extremely rare.
EXCELLENT MOTHERS & EASY BIRTHS
Chianina are excellent mothers and birth easily as their calves are long, slender and narrow shouldered.
Calves are born a beautiful caramel color and lighten to the white coats of their parents as they age.
CROSS BREEDING
FOR SIZE
Originally bred as draught cattle, they have a reputation for being gentle and quiet – but like all animals, and especially the mighty Chianina – you need to respect their enormous size and weight. (pictured above is Chianina and Charolais heifers at same age)
